The sheer amount of work and time I spend waiting for it to respond is starting to make me feel like I did in 1987 when I had to leave my machine to do other things whenever it was printing mailing labels on the dot matrix. I've been holding out on complaining because my new laptop was supposed to show up this week, but as of Thursday late it wasn't there, and I didn't see a message for Friday while I was ooo. When they upgraded me to the new network recently it started installing something almost every day, sometimes multiple times, with reboot, including apps to strip off my desktop background and restrict the screen saver. Not that I had a troublesome screen saver before. I used the company default. But all that extra "activity" is no doubt responsible for some aspect of my current trend toward digital glacialism.
As someone involved in corporate security as a side aspect of my job, I understand some of the push to standardize. But if other machines act like mine, they're expending a significant daily cost to make it happen.

That reminds me. I need to order my new laptop (I'm at 3 1/2 years with the old one now), before they force that TEN migration on me. I've somehow managed to avoid it thus far.
