Ice Cream Ignorance, Sunday Night Music, Naked Bicycling

That last post was my 1500th post. Guess I should have been writing a book instead. I think that's 100 posts for each regular reader - you're all that special to me!

Before I get started, I direct you to the top 10 Robot Chicken sex moments (so NSFW), courtesy of Fimoculous via Alexis. Sure to offend everyone in some way. But it's a nice way to link to a variety of other Adult Swim top 10 lists, like Top 10 Family Guy and Robot Chicken Star Wars moments. And I think it's important Ming goes to Robot Chicken sex moment #1 on page 2 to watch Golden Girls in the City. I think this may well cure him of any inclination to watch Sex in the City, Golden Girls, Calendar Girls, or the ilk ever again. Ugh.

Speaking of Ming. Did you know that gelato comes in durian flavor? Look right on the left hand side of the Wikipedia gelato article and you'll see it. Nevermind. Here - it's under a GNU, so I'll just post a copy. Ming...if you find some durian gelato and I can have a quart of milk and a quart of espresso near by, I'm willing to try it.

I was looking up gelato on Wikipedia because I realized I am ice cream type product illiterate. I had a banana, pineapple, something-something sorbet, and found myself wondering what I was eating. I don't think anyone ever told me that in the U.S. sorbet basically means sherbet. And I long ago corrected myself on the word "sherbert", only to see it in the disambiguation as a possible spelling. So now I'm familiar with half a dozen kinds of frozen dessert down to the fat content and dairy content and FDA rules. Prior to the internet and my Blackberry, I'd have blissfully enjoyed my fruit concoction and just gotten on with life.

You know that headache your kid gets from eating ice cream too fast? 20% of you have a kid that really enjoys that. This is from my brother, courtesy of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and it really stresses the importance of your kids having lots of friends.

In the game, children use dog leashes or bungee cords wrapped around their necks or other means to temporarily cut blood flow to their head. The goal is a dreamlike, floating-in-space feeling when blood rushes back into the brain.

As many as 20 percent of teens and preteens play the game, sometimes in groups, according to estimates based on a few local studies. But nearly all the deaths were youths who played alone..."

From my other sibling, LissyJo, came the question, "Why don't you do the World Naked Bike Ride?" To which I can only reply..."I didn't know about it!" In my defense, 1.) I'm not particularly pretty naked, although from that video, maybe that's not a requirement, 2.) they don't seem to have had all that many in the Twin Cities, it looks like I'd have to try Chicago or Seattle (perhaps London), and 3.) how illegal is it? Maybe I could do naked at one of those far flung cities. It's a bit more difficult to get in trouble with your bosses if it happens someplace where there are a lot of hippies and it's sort of expected, at least from a Minnesota POV. But I imagine it could be considered an issue if I showed up on the local news and blog sites in my saggy whites. I noticed a lot of people in many, many states of dress and undress, however, so perhaps I could do tighty whities, or the ugliest pair of beat up underwear I could find. That's a possibility. By the way, this is a much better video about the ride, Chicago focused. Maybe that should be a goal for this year - go to Chicago for sushi and to watch a naked bike ride so I'm aware of the etiquette and options.

Finally. Aqua City Motel is playing at Big V's (the Midway) on Sunday night - 1567 University Ave. W, St. Paul. Erik says the band plays later in the evening, so they won't be on until 10:30-11:00, but Monday is a holiday, so it's just not that late. If you're around come down for a beer and some music.
